A Dream Realized: Lytle and Stephanie’s Cabin Transformation
For 24 years, Lytle and Stephanie Thomas had owned their farm without quite having the place they imagined: a comfortable home away from home where they could relax, enjoy the property, and gather with family and friends.
An existing house offered a possibility, but its condition made the path forward difficult to see. Stephanie’s initial assessment was blunt: the house seemed best suited for “wrecking ball practice.”
What they needed was a team that could see its potential—and help them see it, too.
Finding the Right Team
Lytle had spent a couple of years searching for the right solution. He had done some work himself and sought outside help, but the project still needed a clear plan.
His introduction to the people at Clearsight Homes changed that.
“I had come to know some of the people at Clearsight, and it was the people that made it a pretty easy choice,” he recalled.
The team’s recommendations, professionalism, and communication gave the couple confidence from the beginning. Rather than recommending demolition, Clearsight saw an opportunity to remodel the existing house and incorporate an addition.
For Stephanie, the possibility of creating the home they wanted at a lower cost than tearing down and rebuilding was especially appealing. For Lytle, the turning point came when the team sat down with them and mapped out what the property could become.
“I realized we were with the right team to make this project come together.”
Bringing Their Vision to Life
The couple envisioned a modern farmhouse that felt crisp, open, and airy while remaining cozy and welcoming. Achieving that meant rethinking the existing interior alongside the addition—and making many decisions along the way.
Cabinets, flooring, colors, lighting, fixtures, and hardware all had to work together. Stephanie admitted that the number of choices initially felt overwhelming.
The Clearsight team helped them translate their ideas into a cohesive design. Lytle appreciated being able to review selections in one showroom with an architect and experienced team members. Stephanie valued the guidance that helped them picture how their individual choices would come together.
One particularly memorable moment arrived when the protective cardboard came off the floors. Seeing the flooring throughout the house, they could finally say to each other, “We picked the right color.”
As completion drew closer, the couple began visiting every day.
“It was like Christmas every day,” Stephanie said. Each visit revealed another finished detail and another piece of the home they had imagined.
Communication That Made the Difference
For Lytle, communication was one of the defining strengths of the experience.
He received regular text updates explaining what was planned and where the project stood. When phone calls weren’t answered immediately, they were returned quickly.
“The communication throughout the project was beyond expectation,” he said.
That communication mattered especially when remodeling uncovered something unexpected. According to Lytle, the team brought possible solutions along with the problem, helping the couple understand their options and make decisions.
Stephanie also appreciated the team’s responsiveness as the finishing details took shape. When shelving arrangements or outlet locations needed adjustments, she said the team accommodated their requests professionally.
Those small refinements helped make the finished house feel right for the way they wanted to use it.
A Home Made for Gathering
The completed home delivered on the couple’s original purpose: creating a place to share.
Stephanie described the room where they sat for the interview as beautiful, light, airy, welcoming, and cozy. Over Father’s Day weekend, they hosted family and friends and experienced the home as they had envisioned it.
“The design, the layout was perfect,” she said. “So everything we had envisioned we were able to realize.”
Lytle found it hard to choose a favorite space. He described moving from one room to another, enjoying something different in each.
“You can’t just sit in one spot because you want to experience all of them.”
The Strongest Recommendation
Looking back, Stephanie said the experience was positive from beginning to end.
“The quality of the workmanship is impeccable,” she said. The stress she had anticipated never materialized in the way she expected. Instead, she remembered the project as fun.
Their confidence in Clearsight has continued beyond the cabin. Lytle had already referred two friends to the company by the time of the interview. The couple was also planning a project at their primary residence.
“We would not consider using anyone else other than Clearsight,” Stephanie said.
For Lytle and Stephanie, the transformation means more than an updated house. It means finally having the gathering place they had wanted for years—and finding a team they trust to help with what comes next.
“It’s kind of a dream come true for us.”
